Italia [07 Jun 2007|10:38am]
Hey all, so guess where I went last weekend -----VENICE!. I went to Venice and it was amazing. The city is so beautiful, I can't even describe how stunning it was. We took Eurostar so we got there within 4.5 hours. I went with 6 of my friends and we stayed on this camping site in trailers. I shared a trailer with one of my friends and we met some cool people there. I met 2 girls from Ireland, 2 guys for California and one other guy from North Carolina- so now I have new facebook friends-lol. I will try to upload the Venice pics soon... I'm really excited about this weekend. Tommorow morning I am leaving to go to an Island called Ventotene it's close to the famous island of Capri. It is supposedly gorgeous and the weather will be nice. I will be staying in a condo with direct access to the Beach. I might also rent a boat and go snorkeling, I absolutely can't wait. The next big trip that I am planning is to Barcelona with 2 other friends. I love that I get to travel this summer and I am so glad that I have a great group here that I hang out with. I miss you all and I hope everyone is enjoying their summer :)

Roma [27 May 2007|03:05pm]
Ciao Americans, whats up? I have utterly enjoyed my first week in Rome. So much has already happened I don't even know where to begin. I already made friends with people and thats always good, I get a long with my roommates and we go out all the time. I swear I'm becoming Paris Hilton, we go out to a bar/club almost every night and drink. There has been more going on than partying...I have been to museums and different towns outside of Rome. Today, was a really fun day bc I went to a soccer game and Rome won! It was great bc the crowd was so into the game, it was really cool being there. Hmmm...I feel like I already forgot what happened this week. I promise to update more often, I have been slacking. I dont really spend that much time in my apartment. We really just like sleep, shower, and sometimes eat here ( I have been eating out a lot with ppl, and Im getting tired of pasta and pizza).Rome isnt very diverse when it comes to food. Although, the gelato is wonderful and its everywhere kinda like Starbucks back home. I have been clubbing twice, and the Italian men are absolutely gorgeous but very pushy. I am planning to visit Venice and I'm going away to this Island near Capri, its like a beach town and its supposed to be really pretty. It's actually really funny but I am hanging out with Emily Schu's roommate Lauren and her roommates, they live on my floor so we hang out like everyday. I am so glad that I am studying abroad, I can't explain it but its such an amazing experience already.

xoxoxo

Ciao from Italia - Part 2 [18 May 2007|04:56pm]
Hey everyone! So, I got my hair cut in Italy. The stylist did not speak a word of english, so needless to say I have been trying to use my Italian out here ( I took it in high school and a year at Temple, so I'm a little shaky but most ppl understand me, and I also have a pocket dictionary and a book filled with useful phrases). The haircut looks good, its a couple of inches shorter. The process is really strange out here. They wash your hair, put plastic (surane) wrap around your entire head then they put you under this big blow dryer. I felt like an alien being experimented on, then what's even stranger is after you spend all that time under the dryer they go and wash your hair again. I guess its a conditioning treatment, bc my hair is really soft. So, I have been experiencing Rome with my family and we went to all the famous sites ( Vatican City, Trevi Fountain). Yesterday, we had lunch and sat next to this Italian-American couple from NY. It was an episode of the Sopranno's. The husband was so funny, I literary cried. Today, my parents moved me into the Residence. I have to admit I miss them already. It's weird being here without them. I am living with 3 other girls, and we each have our own rooms of 2. My roommate seems nice, so thats always a plus. The apartments here are really nice...my room has a pretty big terrace and a big bathroom. We have a nice size living room and kitchen area. Even though I know 3 other girls here im trying to meet other people. It's a little strange bc i feel like its freshman year all over. I think it will be okay the first day is always a little awkward. I get along with the ppl Im living with so far. We actually just sat and talked and we all had a cup of red wine ( I really enjoy the wine here its cheaper than water!). Tommorow we have an orientation and walking tour around the city and sunday we have an excursion in Todi, which isnt that far from Rome. I can't believe classes start on Monday, Im not ready...I want to switch out of my legal studies class and pick up something else. I also might go visit my friend Jenny in Madrid in 2 weeks that would be awesome. Well thats all for now...tune in next time :)

p.s. the internet connection in my room kinda sucks, so I might not be posting as often as I hope, but we will see.

Ciao from Italia :) [17 May 2007|02:24am]
Hey guys, whats up? I decided that an International post is in order. So much has been going on already, I don't even know where to start. I began my journey to the city of pizza and gelato aboard a 7 or 8 hour flight, which felt like the longest flight of my life. 20 minutes felt like 3 hours...there was no air circulation on the plane and it was really hot that a woman actually passed out on the floor and I was also starting to feel very dizzy and ill, luckily my mom was by my side and she helped me get through it. Anyway, it was all worth it, since I LOVE Rome. It is a BEAUTIFUL city, that I feel is different from the other European cities I have visited. I have been hanging out with my family and we are having a great time. Last night we went to Vatican city and the Colloseum. We also took a 1 day tour to Florence that was incredibly gorgeous. We basically walk around the city and go to see the major attractions. Since, I am in Italy I think its only proper to say that the food is tasty, esp. the gelato-lol. I still can't believe that I will be staying here for 6 weeks, It hasn't sinked in yet...On friday I begin my study abroad program, which I am excited about, since I get to meet the rest of the people in the program. I miss you all and I hope you are all doing well.

Summer :) [08 Jun 2006|01:26am]
So far I am liking my summer in Philly :)...which makes me so happy becuz I thought this summer would be somewhat boring. It has been quite eventful in fact- I spent my first weekend in philly this past weekend and I had a blast..I seirously enjoyed every minute of it. I went to "First Friday" ( I highly reccomend it), then on saturday I went to a party and a dance recital at Drexel with a friend I met in class ( she is so awesome and she lives sooo close...yay to making new friends) and on sunday I saw "The Breakup" which was funny. This week has been pretty good 2 I finally got to hang out with Michelle and Steph and we had fun in University City..I gave Michelle her bday present and she liked it which made me happy. My suitemate at UV is pretty chill 2 we definitely get along and thats always good. I just felt like writing in this thing today, mainly because I have been incredibly productive and it feels good. I talked to my mom today, did laundry, made dinner, went to the gym, and cleaned up both my room and bathroom...I usually don;t accomplish this much in a week-lol. I am also sooo excited for this weekend as well...and next weekend is going to be awesome, since it will be Michelle's bday weeekend. I can't believe it's already June..the summer is going fast, so we all better enjoy it before school begins. I hope all is well with everyone else

Love, Rachel

Last Day of classes [10 May 2006|06:32am]
So, it's 6:33 in the morning and I'm still working on my final paper for my philosophy of Race class which pretty much consists of me bashing the caucasion race in order to get a good grade.. so basically the point is that white people suck and we oppress everyone......ok next topic is that today I am officially moving out of 1940- a place i think im really going to miss. I enjoyed my stay in 1940 much more that 1300. It's gonna be such a long day with all the packing and moving, but my dad and me will get through it. I am soooooo EXCITED to go home for the weekend. It's going to be my mini break before returning to classes. I can't believe I will be in Philly over the summer . Anyway, good luck to everyone with their final grades ( I'm a bit worried) and I'm gonna miss you all ( except for michelle, steph, and dave becuase we get to hang out during the summer ( one word comes to mind "YAY"!!)....btw steph and michelle I will be at your apartment all the time, so you better get used to that-lol. Ok, well I should stop procrastinating and finish writing my last paper of this semester!

Always, Rachel :)

P.S> Michelle- I think I'm becoming addicted to Live Journal!

Hey People, whats Up? Everyone seems to be writing on this site and I'm just here to see what you guys are writing about. It's kinda weird for me to put my thoughts and feelings on a post like this ( I consider myself to be a private person). I have no idea why or what I am writing at this moment. I feel like people ( no one in particular, just the general population) complain to much. I'm not saying that I'm perfect and I don't complain (becuz we all know that I do), but it just gets on my nerves...I guess what I am trying to say is that we all go through tough times and its okay to be weak.. but it is also up to us to pull ourselves out of that state. We all hold the keys to our future and ultimately you can only blame yourself for the problems you have. One of my all time favorite quotes is " Every Problem is an opportunity in Disguise"- Ben Franklin and you know what he is definitely right.
